Who Stickney's Tack & Repair is..
Kelly Stickney
Kelly's experience in leatherwork began in 2020 when she purchased an existing tack repair business from a local Amesbury woman, Nancy Perry. Kelly spent several months with Nancy learning the basics while her and her dad put up walls and a ceiling in what is now, "the shop". Once moved in, repairs and custom work took off. In April of 2022, Kelly spent the month in Yukon, Oklahoma at C Bar H Saddlery with saddle maker Clinton "Doc" Hole. Kelly and Clinton completed her first Western saddle in two weeks, and the final two weeks were spent repairing saddles, another small project, and learning how Western saddles and trees should fit a horse. Beginning her horse craze in 2008, Kelly has experience riding in many seats, but started out in saddleseat, carried on to hunt seat, and eventually western where she really felt at home. Carrying on the trade of both art and function is her main goal.
On the other side...
Jennifer Foresman
Jenny has been doing leather work since the age of 16 on Cape Cod. She started with Canterbury Leather in Orleans making custom sandals, belts, and all things fringe in the 70's. In college, Jenny worked with a woman in Vermont learning how make leather jackets, bags, and more. From this woman, she received her current sewing machine as a wedding gift in 1980. Since then, she worked at home in her own shop in upstate New York while raising her two children. After recently relocating to the Newburyport area, Jenny took a part time job at our local rental store ran and owned by Kelly Stickney's aunt Kate. Jenny, thinking she was done with leatherwork, parted ways with most of her supplies during the move besides her trusty sewing machine. Not having room for it in her living space, it seemed like an excellent fit for Jenny to continue doing leatherwork on the side with Kelly at "the shop".

Yukon Cornelius Stickney
Yukon ought to be a seasoned professional by now, he's been participating in building saddles with his mom, Kelly, since he was only 8 weeks old. Raised in the leather shop, he's unphased by the sounds of hammers, his mom's singing and loud music, and is an expert at "leave it" when it comes to things falling on the floor. He's a friendly greeter that must be seen and patted first before you speak to his mom. His skills include covering the floor in black fur, having a very good nap in his bed, and sitting pretty when he needs to be seen. Named after his mom's biggest adventure in Oklahoma, Yukon is always at home in the shop.
